Perceived Familial Socialization Styles and its Effect on Motivation and Academic Achievement among High Schools Students in Irbid Governorate

Abstract

The present study aimed at investigating the perceived Familial Socialization styles and it's Effect on motivation and academic achievement among high schools students in Irbid Governorate. The study sample consisted of (70) male and female students, who were chosen randomly. A Questionnaire of familial Socialization as perceived by sons and Herman's Questionnaire Measure of Achievement for children and adults was used in the study. The Results revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in achievement motivation due to familial Socialization styles, sex, or interaction between them, and the results indicated also that there is no statistically significant differences in academic achievement due to familial Socialization styles or interaction between familial Socialization styles and sex for all familial Socialization styles adopted by the father and mother together or father or mother separately, while the results showed that there is statistically significant differences in academic achievement due to sex for all familial Socialization styles adopted by the father and mother together or father or mother separately, and the differences in favor of females

الملخص

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرُّف إلى أنماط التنشئة الأسرية المدركة وأثرها في الدافعية للإنجاز والتحصيل الأكاديمي لدى طلبة المرحلة الثانوية في محافظة اربد. اشتملت الدراسة على (70) طالبًا وطالبة تم اختيارهم عشوائيًّا، وتم استخدام استبانة للتنشئة الأسرية لتحديد نمط التنشئة الأسرية السائد كما يدركه أفراد العينة، واختبار هيرمانز لدافعية الإنجاز للأطفال والراشدين. أظهرت النتائج عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في دافعية الإنجاز تعزى إلى متغير نمط التنشئة الأسرية أو الجنس أو التفاعل بينهما، وكذلك عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في التحصيل الدراسي تعزى إلى متغير نمط التنشئة الأسرية أو التفاعل بين نمط التنشئة والجنس وذلك لكافة أنماط التنشئة الأسرية المتبعة من قبل الأب والأم معًا أو الأب أو الأم كل على حده، في حين بينت النتائج وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في التحصيل الدراسي تعزى إلى متغير الجنس لجميع أنماط التنشئة المتبعة من قبل الأب والأم معًا أو كل منهما على حده، وكانت الفروق لصالح الإناث.
