Assesing the Transitional Services for Persons with Mental Disabilities from Parents and Teachers Perspective

Abstract

The study aimed at identifying the reality of transition services for persons with mental disabilities from the point of view of parents and teachers, aged 15-25 years in private and public education centers in Jordan. A random sample of 99 parents was selected, (60) mothers and (39) fathers, in addition to a random sample of teachers (101) teachers. To achieve the objectives of the study was developed a questionnaire on the evaluation of transitional services for people with mental disabilities and verified its validity and stability; The field of life skills has the highest average and highest Psychological and emotional services received the lowest average of teachers and parents of transitional services for persons with mental disabilities; the arithmetic mean ranged from parents' assessments of life skills (3.22) to psychological and emotional services (2.69). While the arithmetic average was the teachers for the field of life skills (3.36) while in the field of psychological and emotional services (2.97). Finally, the study recommended further studies of the roles of employees and their level of knowledge of the importance of transitional services.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة إلى الكشف عن تقييم الخدمات الانتقالية للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقات العقلية من وجهة نظر اولياء الأمور والمعلمين، الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 15-25 سنة المتواجدين في مراكز التربية الخاصة الحكومية في الأردن؛ وقد تم اختيار عينة عشوائية من أولياء الأمور إذ بلغ عددهم (99) ولي أمر منهم (60) أم و(39) أب، بالإضافة إلى عينة عشوائية من المعلمين وكان عددهم (101) معلماً؛ ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة تم تطوير استبانة حول تقييم الخدمات الانتقالية لذوي الإعاقات العقلية وتم التحقق من صدقها وثباتها؛ وقد أظهرت النتائج أن مجال المهارات الحياتية حصل على أعلى متوسط بلغ (3.22)، وأن مجال الخدمات النفسية والانفعالية حصل على أدنى متوسط بلغ (2.69) من وجهة نظر أولياء الأمور للخدمات الانتقالية المقدمة لذوي الإعاقة العقلية وبدرجة تقييم متوسطة بمتوسط حسابي (2.97) وبانحراف معياري (0.60)؛ في حين أظهرت النتائج أن مجال التدريب المهني حصل على أعلى متوسط إذ بلغ (3.37)، وأن مجال الإندماج والمشاركة حصل على أدنى متوسط بلغ (3.05) من وجهة نظر المعلمين للخدمات الانتقالية المقدمة لذوي الإعاقة العقلية وبدرجة تقييم متوسطة بمتوسط حسابي (3.22) وبانحراف معياري (0.55). وأخيراً، أوصت الدراسة اجراء المزيد من الدراسات لأدوار العاملين ومستوى معرفتهم بأهمية الخدمات الانتقالية.
