Diagnosis of the Reality of Knowledge Management Application – An Exploratory Study from Faculty Members’ Perspective in Economics and Administrative Science Colleges in Sudanese Universities

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the level of application of knowledge management processes in Sudanese universities. The study sample consisted of (136) academic staff member from (10) public and private universities. The main findings of the study were that the application of knowledge management processes in Sudanese universities was low. Knowledge generating and acquisition dimension has the highest priority among knowledge management processes, followed by Knowledge storing and organizing, Knowledge sharing and distribution, Knowledge practicing respectively. The study also found that there are no statistical differences between the sample according to sex, experience, and academic position. The study presented a number of recommendations, the most important of which is the development of the infrastructure of the Sudanese universities and the necessity of availability of knowledge management requirements to improve the status of these universities, in addition to developing deficiencies in the dimensions of the knowledge processes mentioned in this study.

الملخص

سعت هذه الدراسة إلى اختبار مستوى ممارسة عمليات ادارة المعرفة في الجامعات السودانية. وقد تكونت عينة الدراسة من (136) عضو هيئة تدريس من (10) جامعات عامة وخاصة. تمثلت أهم نتائج الدراسة في أن تطبيق عمليات ادارة المعرفة في الجامعات السودانية كان منخفضاً. وجاء بعد توليد المعرفة والحصول عليها في المرتبة الأولى من بين أبعاد عمليات ادارة المعرفة، تلاه بعد تخزين وتنظيم المعرفة، ثم بعد شراكة وتوزيع المعرفة، وفي المرتبة الأخيرة جاء بعد تطبيق المعرفة. كما توصلت الدراسة أيضا إلى أن ليس هناك فروق ذات إحصائية بين افراد العينة تعزى لمتغيرات الجنس والدرجة العلمية، وسنوات الخبرة. قدمت الدراسة عدد من التوصيات أهمها تطوير البنى التحتية للجامعات السودانية وضرورة توافر متطلبات ادارة المعرفة للنهوض بواقع هذه الجامعات، إضافة لتطوير جوانب القصور في أبعاد عمليات المعرفة التي جاءت في هذه الدراسة.
