Abstract
This study seeks to identify the part of University of Jordan in the development of academic research as perceived by academic leaders. To achieve study goal, the author used the descriptive methodology. The study instrument was 28-item questionnaire designed to measure the role of University of Jordan in developing academic research from viewpoints of academic leaders. The instrument was tested for reliability and validity and administered to a sample of 167-academic leaders. This study reveals high rating of the role of University of Jordan in developing academic research from viewpoints of academic leaders. Further, there are statistically significant differences at (α≥0.05) in the academic researching policies and procedures pertaining faculties attributed to gender, where differences were in favor of male academic leaders. There were no statistically significant difference were found at (α≥0.05) attributed to job title; whereas no statistically significant difference were found at (α≥0.05) in each of instrument areas attributed to academic rank. A number of recommendations were suggested in light of results.

الملخص
هدفت الدراسة إلى معرفة دور الجامعة الأردنية في تنمية البحث العلمي من وجهة نظر القادة الأكاديميين فيها، ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة، استخدمت الباحثة المنهج الوصفي، من خلال تصميم أداة الدراسة، وهي استبانة؛ لتحديد دور الجامعة الأردنية في تنمية البحث العلمي من وجهة نظر القادة الأكاديميين مكونة من (28) فقرة تم التأكد من صدقها وثباتها، تم وزعت على أفراد عينة الدراسة المكونة من (167) قائداً أكاديمياً، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن درجة التقدير لدور الجامعة الأردنية في تنمية البحث العلمي من وجهة نظر القادة الأكاديميين كانت عالية، وأظهرت النتائج كذلك وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة (α≥ 0.05)، على مجالي سياسات البحث العلمي والإجراءات المتعلقة بأعضاء هيئة التدريس تعزى لمتغير الجنس، وجاءت الفروق لصالح القادة الأكاديميين من الذكور، وعدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة (α≥ 0.05)، تعزى لمتغير المسمى الوظيفي، ووجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة (α≥ 0.05)، على كل مجال من مجالات الأداة تعزى لمتغير الرتبة الأكاديمية، وبناءً على النتائج قدمت الباحثة مجموعة من التوصيات.
