This study aims at identifying mathematics teaching methods used by mathematics teachers at the universities of Jordan and the attitudes. To achieve the objective of the study, the analytical descriptive approach has been applied. A random sample has been chosen from the faculty members specialized in mathematics at the University of Jordan, Hashemite University, AL-Bayet University and Al-Balqa’ Applied University in Jordan; (48) teachers. Two measures have been developed for the purposes of this study; the first measure: aims at identifying the most common teaching methods, the second: aims at measuring the attitudes of the faculty members at the universities towards mathematics teaching methods. The results of the study showed that direct teaching, the discussion and dialog method, and the teaching method that depends on the computer are the most common teaching methods among the faculty members – specialized in mathematics – at the universities of Jordan. Whereas for the attitudes, the results showed that the majority of the faculty members agree on the importance of using modern and diverse teaching methods, in addition to the importance of training teachers during their first year of assignment on using these methods. The results showed that there are no statistically significant differences regarding the attitudes of the members of the sample toward using the teaching methods according to the type of the method. In the light of the results of the study, some recommendations were reached: activating modern teaching methods in the university education which develop the students’ thinking, research capabilities and scientific creativity; and building a system that motivates university teachers in general and mathematics teachers in particular to practice diverse teaching methods.

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على طرائق تدريس الرياضيات المستخدمة لدى أساتذة الرياضيات في الجامعات الأردنية والاتجاهات نحوها، ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة تم الاعتماد على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، حيث تم اختيار عينة عشوائية من أعضاء هيئة التدريس تخصص الرياضيات في الجامعة الأردنية والجامعة الهاشمية وجامعة آل البيت وجامعة البلقاء التطبيقية في الأردن، وبواقع (48) مدرساً، وتم تطوير مقياسين للدراسة. المقياس الأول: يهدف إلى التعرف على طرائق التدريس الأكثر شيوعاً، والثاني يهدف إلى قياس اتجاهات أعضاء هيئة التدريس في الجامعات نحو طرائق تدريس الرياضيات. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن التعليم المباشر والمناقشة والحوار، والتدريس المعتمد على الحاسوب هي من الطرق التدريسية الأكثر شيوعاً لدى أعضاء هيئة التدريس – تخصص رياضيات- في الجامعات الأردنية. أما بالنسبة إلى الاتجاهات أظهرت النتائج اتفاق معظم أعضاء هيئة التدريس على أهمية استخدام طرائق تدريس حديثة ومتنوعة بالإضافة إلى أهمية تدريب المعلم في السنة الأولى من التعيين على تلك الطرائق، وتوصلت النتائج أيضاً إلى عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في اتجاهات أفراد العينة نحو استخدام طرائق التدريس تبعاً لنوع الطريقة. وفي ضوء نتائج الدراسة تم التوصل إلى بعض التوصيات أهمها: تفعيل الطرائق التدريسية الحديثة في التدريس الجامعي والتي تنمي التفكير والبحث والإبداع العلمي لدى الطلبة، وتبنى نظام يحفز أساتذة الجامعات عامة وبشكل خاص أساتذة الرياضيات على ممارسة طرائق تدريس منوعة.
