Abstract

The present study aimed at investigating the relationship between psychological well-being and the level of aspiration among the students of King Abdullah II for excellence in Salt city, Jordan. The study adopted the quantitative approach (Descriptive correlational). The sample of the study comprised 287 male and female students who were purposively recruited from the eighth, ninth and tenth grades. Both the psychological well-being and aspiration level scales were administered to the study participants. The results of the study revealed that there is a significant positive correlation between psychological well-being and level of aspiration among the students of King Abdullah II for excellence, and a high level of psychological well-being and aspiration. In addition, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the level of psychological well-being referred to gender variable in favor of females, and no statistically significant differences in the level of psychological well-being referred to grade variable. The study recommends ensuring that families and schools support children to achieve their aspiration by helping them overcome the obstacles they encounter while achieving their aspiration.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة التعرف على العلاقة بين السعادة النفسية ومستوى الطموح لدى طلبة مدارس الملك عبد الله الثاني للتميز في السلط / الأردن. وأجريت وفقا للمنهج الكمي (الوصفي الارتباطي)، وتكون أفراد الدراسة من طلبة الصفوف (الثامن والتاسع والعاشر)، والبالغ عددهم (287) طالب وطالبة، اختيروا بالطريقة القصدية، طبق عليهم مقياس السعادة النفسية، ومستوى الطموح. وأشارت نتائج الدراسة إلى وجود علاقة ارتباطيه موجبة بين السعادة النفسية ومستوى الطموح لدى طلبة مدارس الملك عبد الله الثاني للتميز، وأن السعادة النفسية ومستوى الطموح جاءت بدرجة مرتفعة، كما أظهرت النتائج وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في السعادة النفسية تعزى لمتغير الجنس ولصالح الإناث، وتبين عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في درجة السعادة النفسية تعزى لمتغير الصف، وتوصي الدراسة العمل من قبل الأهل والمدرسة على دعم الأبناء في سبيل تحقيق طموحاتهم، من خلال مساعدتهم على تخطي ما يواجههم من معوقات في طريق تحقيق ذلك الطموح.
