Dr. Muath Asmar

Muath Asmar, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Financial Technology at the Faculty of Business & Communication, An-Najah National University. He has held various managerial and consulting positions in the private sector. Recognized as a certified expert and arbitrator in IT and e-commerce by the Palestinian Ministry of Justice, he earned his bachelor's degree in banking and finance from An-Najah National University. He also holds a master's degree in information technology and a Ph.D. in financial markets technology from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Additionally, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship focusing on financial innovation, including exchange-traded funds and fintech, at the School of Economics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece.

Dr. Asmar primary research interests include market microstructure, fintech, trading technology, cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, and e-commerce. Throughout his academic career, he has taught various courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including portfolio theory, financial markets, scientific research methodology and its statistical tools, corporate finance, and other finance- and IT-related subjects. He has published multiple papers in international refereed journals and has participated in several conferences worldwide. Dr. Asmar has also served as a visiting professor at the Department of Economics & Management, University of Pavia in Italy, and has made research visits to financial institutions in the United States.
