The study tackles the topic of the Saudi youths’ readership of the Saudi newspapers. The study shows that most of the study samples "always" read the papers, and a relatively high percentage of them "often" read these papers. Most of the samples spend less than half an hour reading the papers and a high percentage of them spend 1 – 2 hours in reading. The samples’ preferences are Okath, Al-Riyadhiyyah (sports) and Al-Madinah newspapers, consequently. As regards topic preferences, most of the youth prefer sports topics first, current and political issues second and the youths’ concerns third. It is found that a big proportion of the sample expressed their complete or partial satisfaction versus about two thirds of the sample who expressed dissatisfaction because of "insincerity sometimes" or "immeticulous coverage" of such issues. The samples believe that Saudi papers show more interest in sports, education and scientific issues. As for the public issues manipulated in other papers, in the time of the study, the samples think that issues concerning violence، terrorism، the invasion of Iraq، and the Palestinian issue are of importance to them.

يقرأ الشباب السعودي عينة البحث الجرائد السعودية. ومعظمهم يقرؤها بشكل “دائم"، ونسبة عالية منهم "أحيانا". ويقضي أغلب المبحوثين أقل من نصف ساعة في قراءة الجريدة، ونسبة كبيرة تقضي من ساعة إلى أقل من ساعتين في القراءة. ويفضل معظم الشباب، وبنسبة مرتفعة جدا، جريدة عكاظ، فجريدة الرياضية، فجريدة المدينة. وبالنسبة للموضوعات التي يفضلون قراءتها فإن أغلبهم يفضل المواد الرياضية، فالموضوعات المرتبطة بالأحداث الجارية والسياسية، فموضوعات الشباب. وحول مدى رضا المبحوثين عن طريقة تناول الجرائد السعودية لقضايا الشباب فإن نسبة كبيرة من المبحوثين عبروا عن رضاهم، سواء بدرجة "راضٍ تماما" أو "إلى حد ما"، وبالرغم من ذلك فإن هناك نسبة تصل لأكثر من الثلثين "ليست راضية". إن "عدم الصدق في بعض الأحيان"، و"تناول الموضوعات بشكل سطحي"، يعد من أهم أسباب عدم رضاهم. ويرى المبحوثون أن الجرائد السعودية أكثر اهتماما بالموضوعات الرياضة وقضايا التعليم والموضوعات العلمية. أما بالنسبة للقضايا العامة التي تهتم بها الجرائد في الوقت الحالي – وقت إجراء الاستبيان – فيرى المبحوثون أن قضية العنف والإرهاب هي من أكثر القضايا التي تهتم بها الجرائد. وجاءت قضية غزو العراق واحتلاله في المرتبة الثانية، تليها قضية فلسطين.
