The study aimed to expose the components of archaeological tourism in Amman governorate and to analyze the characteristics of the tourist movement in archaeological sites in Amman as well as the tourists motivations. In addition, it aimed to determine the challenges and obstacles facing archaeological tourism in Amman. To achieve the study objectives, an electronic questionnaire was designed and distributed to a random sample of Jordanian tourists, who visited archaeological sites in Amman, via social media websites. The descriptive and analytical methods were used to analyze the collected data using SPSS software. The results show a high percentage of married males with university degrees (bachelor), and most of them are with low-income. The most important motive for archaeological tourism in Amman Governorate was spend and enjoy their free times. The study also showed that the most important challenges facing archaeological tourism in Amman Governorate from tourists’ point of view are traffic jam and the high prices in the study area. The study recommends the necessity of developing the archaeological sites in Amman governorate for sustainability purpose and reducing prices in order to encourage domestic tourism.

هدفت الدّراسة إلى الكشف عن مقومات السياحة الأثرية في محافظة عمّان، والتعرف على خصائص ممارسة هذا النوع من السياحة في منطقة الدراسة، ومعرفة الدوافع السياحية لدى السياح، إضافة إلى معرفة التحديات والمعيقات التي تواجه السياحة الأثرية في المحافظة. ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة، تم تصميم استبانة إلكترونية وتوزيعها على عينة عشوائية من السياح الأردنيين الذين يمارسون السياحة الأثرية في عمان باستخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، وتم استخدام المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لتحليل هذه البيانات باستخدام برنامج (SPSS). بينت نتائج الدراسة ارتفاع نسبة الذكور من فئة المتزوجين، ممن يحملون الشهادة الجامعية الأولى ومعظمهم من ذوي الدخل المحدود. وخلصت إلى أنَّ أهم دوافع السياحة الأثرية في المحافظة هو قضاء وقت الفراغ. كما توصلت الدراسة إلى أنَّ أهم التحديات التي تواجه السياحة الأثرية في محافظة عمّان من وجهة نظر سياح منطقة الدراسة تتمثل في الازدحامات المرورية في خلال محاولتهم الوصول إلى المواقع الأثرية، يليها ارتفاع الأسعار. وتُوصي الدراسة بضرورة تنمية المواقع الأثرية وتطويرها في محافظة عمّان والعمل على تخفيض رسوم الدخول وأسعار الخدمات وتسهيل عملية الوصول إلى المواقع الأثرية والسياحية لتشجيع السياحة الأثرية الداخلية وضمان استمراريتها واستدامتها.
