Abstract

The current study aimed to validate Attitude Mathematics instrument (ATMI) by confirmatory factor analysis using AMOS program. This (ATMI) administered to 350 tenth grade students in schools in Irbid, Jordan. The students responded on a five- point Likert scale. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) supported the original six- factor correlated structure based on several fit indices, especially after outfit items deleted. The validation provided evidence that this ATMI can be a viable scale to measure students’ attitudes toward mathematics, or by researchers in their researches. The researcher recommended that the teachers and researchers could use this ATMI to measure attitudes toward mathematics, and using Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) in developing or verification of the structural validity for the scales.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى دراسة الصدق العاملي التوكيدي لمقياس اتجاهات نحو الرياضيات باستخدام برنامج AMOS، وطبّقت هذه الدراسة على (350) طالباً من طلبة الصف العاشر الأساسي من مدارس مدينة إربد في الأردن، إذ استجاب الطلبة على مقياس اتجاهات من نوع ليكرت خماسي التدريج، وأظهرت نتائج التحليل العاملي التوكيدي جودة مطابقة البيانات للنموذج النظري للمقياس للعوامل الأصلية الستة، والمكوّنة له بالاعتماد على مؤشرات مختلفة لجودة المطابقة، وخصوصا بعد حذف الفقرات غير المطابقة للنموذج، وقدمّت هذه الدراسة أدلّة على صدق البناء للمقياس وملاءمة استخدامه في قياس اتجاهات الطلبة نحو الرياضيات، وفي مجال البحوث والدراسات التي تهتم بذلك. ويوصي الباحث بالاستفادة من نتيجة هذه الدراسة من قبل المدرسين لقياس اتجاهات طلابهم نحو الرياضيات، أو من قبل الباحثين في مجال بحوثهم، وكذلك استخدام هذا النوع من التحليل في مجال بناء المقاييس أو التحقق من الصدق البنائي لها.
