National values in the textbooks of social studies for the high elementary stage in Palestine

Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the most important national values are included in books of social studies for the high elementary stage in Palestine compared to the values that must be available in this stage. and to achieve this goal, the researchers prepared a list of national values, and used the method of content analysis. The sample of the study consisted of all books of social studies of the high elementary stage. The results of the study showed that the total number of repetitions of national values in the books of social studies reached (643) times. As the results showed that the most frequent national values were: preserving national unity, reveal the violations of the occupation and the pride of the history of Palestine. The researchers recommended the necessity of inclusion the national values of low availability in the curriculum of social studies.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة الكشف عن أهم القيم الوطنية المتضمنة في كتب الدراسات الاجتماعية للمرحلة الأساسية العليا بفلسطين مقارنة بالقيم الواجب توافرها. ولتحقيق هذا الهدف أعدَّ الباحثان قائمةً بالقيم الوطنية الواجب توافرها في تلك الكتب؛ وذلك بهدف استخدامها كمعيار في عملية تحليل المحتوى. وتكوَّنت عينة الدراسة من جميع كتب الدراسات الاجتماعية للمرحلة الأساسية العليا، وعددها خمسة كتب. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أنَّ العدد الإجمالي لتكرارات القيم الوطنية في كتب الدراسات الاجتماعية بلغ (643) تكراراً. كما أظهرت النتائج أنَّ أكثر القيم الوطنية تكراراً هي: الحفاظ على الوحدة الوطنية، كشف ممارسات الاحتلال العدوانية، الاعتزاز بتاريخ فلسطين. وأوصى الباحثان بضرورة تعزيز بعض القيم الوطنية ضعيفة التوافر، مثل: التمسُّك بحق العودة، التضامن مع الشهداء والأسرى والجرحى، احترام الرموز الوطنية، مقاومة الغزو الفكري، المحافظة على المرافق العامة.
