    Dr. Ismail Badran, Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry, An-Najah National University, Palestine, [email protected]

    Dr. Badran holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Calgary, Canada (2014). With teaching experience in Palestine, Canada, and the Arabian Gulf, he has developed a unique teaching philosophy that prioritizes active student learning. Dr. Badran boasts over 30 peer- reviewed journal articles and active participation in international conferences. His research centers on reaction mechanisms, chemical kinetics, and utilizes theoretical quantum calculations. Recent projects focus on innovative methods for wastewater treatment, oil upgrading, and methane conversion. Dr. Badran is committed to producing intellectually valuable work with practical applications, evident in his impactful peer-reviewed publications, guidance of graduate students, university grants, and extensive teaching experience.

  • Prof. Raed Alkowni
    Prof. Raed Alkowni, Faculty of Science, An-Najah National University, Palestine

    Professor Raed Alkowni has main area of research interests on Plant Pathology and Applied Microbiology/Biotechnology; Phytosanitary; Biodiversity; Environmental biotechnology/ Phytoremediation, beside his experiences on developing molecular diagnostic tools and plant tissue culturing techniques that serves conserving biodiversities. Prof. Alkowni is fluently speaking of Arabic, English and Italian languages. In addition, Prof. Raed has other responsibilities as An-Najah University staff member of its Center for excellence in learning and teaching (CELT). He was graduated from University of Bari, Italy in (2001), and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher (Junior Specialist) at University of California - Davis, USA, between (2001-2003) and (2007-2008). He won many scholarships and grants to his outstanding achievements in the scientific researches. He is also the founder of Ecology Friend association (EFA) as well as ECOPAL-Forum

  • Prof. Ahmad Al-Dweik
    Prof. Ahmad Al-Dweik, Department Of Mathematics, Birzeit University, Palestine

    Dr. Ahmad Al-Dweik earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, in 2010. He holds an M.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Jordan (2007) and a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Cairo (2001).

    Dr. Al-Dweik’s primary research interests lie in the field of Lie group analysis of differential equations, where he focuses on the symmetry properties and solution methods of nonlinear differential systems. His work contributes to both the theoretical development and practical applications of symmetry methods in mathematical physics and applied mathematics.

  • Assoc. Prof. Ihab H. Alsurakji
    Assoc. Prof. Ihab H. Alsurakji, Coordinator of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Department, Faculty Of Engineering, An-Najah National University, Nablus, Palestine

    Ihab Hisham Hefzi Alsurakji is a Mechanical Engineer working at An-Najah National University as the Coordinator of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Department since August 2022. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mineral, Saudi Arabia and a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the same university. He has worked as an Assistant Professor and lecturer at the Mechanical Engineering Department at An-Najah National University and KFUPM, respectively. He has worked on various research projects related to energy savings and sustainable practices namely; wastewater treatment, solid waste management, multiphase flow systems, particle image velocimetry, optimum insulation thickness, and micro-grooved heat pipe enhancement. He has received various certifications, including a certificate from Elsevier Journal as a reviewer, and awards including full doctoral and master scholarship from KFUPM. He has published articles in several journals including The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Science and Pollution Research.

  • Assoc. Prof. Samer Mudalal
    Assoc. Prof. Samer Mudalal, Director of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, An-Najah National University, Nablus, Palestine

    Dr. Samer Mudalal was born in Toulkarem in 1978. He got his Ph.D. in Food science and Biotechnology from Bologna University, Italy. Currently, he is Head of Department of Nutrition and Food Technology as well as Coordinator of Master program in Nutrition and Food Technology (Faculty of Graduate Studies) since 2016. He has more than 25 publications in meat processing field, in addition to microemulsions filed. He was awarded several research grants including the following:

    Staff Mobility for teaching to University of Naples Federico II funded by Erasmus +, two weeks, Italy, for two years 2016 and 2017

  • Dr. Abdelrahman EID
    Dr. Abdelrahman EID, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science Director of Data Science, An-Najah Innovation Park , An-Najah National University, Palestine

    Dr. Abdelrahman Eid is an Assistant Professor of Data Science at An-Najah National University, holding a PhD in Computational Statistics and Machine Learning from the University of Lille, France.
    With over a decade of international academic experience in Palestine, Jordan and France, he has taught a wide range of courses, from introductory to advanced levels, at both undergraduate and graduate programs.
    Dr. Eid’s research focuses on computational statistics, machine learning, and data science, with applications in environmental monitoring, healthcare, and finance. He has led and participated in projects on time-series analysis, spatial statistics, and the theory of machine learning as well as multidisciplinary projects, publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
    At An-Najah Innovation Park, Dr. Eid is the director of data science which provides services for academia and industry, fostering collaboration and advancing practical applications. He also contributes to the Department of World University Rankings, working to enhance academic visibility and performance. Additionally, Dr. Eid has extensive experience in strategic planning and curriculum development and currently serves as an Associate Editor for the An-Najah Journal for Natural Sciences.

  • Dr. Maryam Hmoudah
    Dr. Maryam Hmoudah, assistant professor in the Chemical Engineering Program,An-Najah National University, Palestine

    Dr. Maryam Hmoudah is specializing in sustainable wastewater treatment solutions. She earned her Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering from An-Najah National University (2009), a Master's from the University of Calgary, and a joint PhD from the University of Naples Federico II, Italy, and Åbo Akademi University, Finland, focusing on advanced materials such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and MXenes for removing pharmaceutical and dye pollutants from water. She was awarded the prestigious Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Fellowship, supporting outstanding women scientists from developing countries.
    Her research emphasizes optimizing the efficiency, affordability, and scalability of adsorbents and photocatalysts for developing regions, with detailed kinetic modeling and reactor design analysis to understand water purification mechanisms. Back in Palestine, she leads critical research at An-Najah National University, addressing daily water scarcity challenges.
    Beyond research, Dr. Hmoudah is a dedicated educator, mentor, and advocate for women in STEM. She teaches chemical engineering courses, supervises students, and serves as faculty advisor for the AIChE Student Chapter, guiding students academically, technically, and in leadership development. Her work exemplifies how scientific innovation, combined with purpose and perseverance, can provide practical, sustainable solutions to pressing environmental challenges.

  • Dr. Ramiz Assaf
    Dr. Ramiz Assaf, Visiting Assistant Professo in Industrial Engineering, An-Najah National University, Nablus, Palestine

    Dr. Assaf was Born on June 21, 1983, in Nablus, Palestine, he has devoted his career to advancing engineering through research, teaching, and professional contributions.

    With a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (2012), Dr. Assaf's research delved into "Output Variability in Multi-Stage Manufacturing Systems." His MSc in Engineering Management and BSc in Industrial Engineering laid a strong foundation for his academic journey.

    Since September 1, 2022, he's been a Visiting Assistant Professor at An-Najah National University in Palestine. At University of Business and Technology (UBT), Jeddah, he served as an Assistant Professor, playing a key role in program development and quality enhancement (2016-2022).

    Dr. Assaf's teaching prowess spans courses like Engineering Economics, System Analysis, and Production Planning. He fostered learning in Masters of Engineering Management and Masters of Supply Chain Management programs.

    His research legacy includes publications on renewable energy, quality management, and optimization. Dr. Assaf is known for his proactive participation in conferences and presentations.

    Beyond academics, he's been pivotal in committees for curriculum development, accreditation, and program improvement. His dedication extends to professional memberships, reflecting his commitment to engineering growth.

    In essence, Dr. Ramiz Assaf's journey as an educator, researcher, and leader has significantly enriched the realm of Industrial Engineering. His academic accomplishments, teaching excellence, research contributions, and leadership roles illuminate his profound impact.

  • Prof. Sameer Shadeed
    Prof. Sameer Shadeed, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, An-Najah National University, Palestine, [email protected]

    Since 2008, Prof. Shadeed has been an active researcher and lecturer specializing in water resources modeling and management. He has participated/led various research projects funded by different international agencies, including hydrological modeling, rainwater harvesting, climate change, water quality, agricultural best management practices, and climate-smart agriculture.
    Additionally, he has supervised numerous graduate students in the fields of water and environmental engineering, as well as environmental sciences. His teaching portfolio encompasses both graduate and undergraduate courses, focusing on water resource quantity and quality, hydrological processes and systems, natural resource management, soil-water-plant interactions, irrigation and drainage, and geographic information systems (GIS). Moreover, Prof. Shadeed has several published articles in highly reputable journals. Finally, he has worked as an independent freelance consultant for numerous national and international consulting firms in the areas of water, environment, and strategic planning.

  • Prof. Tamer Al-Khatib
    Prof. Tamer Al-Khatib, Full Professor of renewable energy, An-Najah National University, Palestine

    I am a photovoltaic power system professional. I hold a B.Sc., a M.Sc. degree and a Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialty in photovoltaic power systems. In addition, I hold Habilitation degree (the highest academic degree in German speaking countries) in Renewable and sustainable energy. Currently I am a full professor of renewable energy at An-Najah National University (ANNU).
    So far, I have 2 patents, 5 published books and 150+ published research articles, while my current h-index is 49.
    I am a senior member of IEEE, IEEE Power and Energy Society, The International Solar Energy society and Jordanian Engineers Association.My research interests mainly fall in the scope of photovoltaic systems and solar energy fundamentals.
    These interests include PV systems design and optimization, modeling and control of PV systems, hybrid PV systems, Grid connected PV systems, PV water pumping systems, sun trackers, MPPT technology, inverters in PV system, solar chargers, batteries and charge controllers, solar energy fundamentals, solar energy prediction, AI applications for solar energy and PV systems, wind power systems, wind chargers, wind energy modeling and prediction, and RE integration in electrical power system.

  • Dr. Diana Dahleih
    Dr. Diana Dahleih, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, An-Najah National University, Palestine

    She earned her Bachelor's degree in Physics from An-Najah National University, a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Miami, USA, and a Ph.D. from KU Leuven (Université catholique de Louvain.), Belgium.

    She is a researcher in computational physics, specializing in solid-state and condensed matter physics. She has collaborated as a visiting and associate researcher with prestigious research groups at KU Leuven, Belgium, and Dartmouth College, USA.

    Her research publications focus on solid-state physics, sustainable energy, and high-performance computing, appearing in international peer-reviewed journals with significant impact factors.

  • Dr. Emad Natsheh
    Dr. Emad Natsheh, Associate Professor, Computer Engineering Departement, Faculty of Engineering, An-Najah National University, Palestine

    Dr. Natsheh holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems. He is currently an Associate Professor at An-Najah National University, Palestine, where he teaches and conducts research in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analysis, pattern recognition, and renewable energy systems. His research focuses on intelligent optimization and the development of smart solutions for real-world challenges.
    He has published extensively in international journals and conferences and actively contributes to linking academic research with industry applications. In addition to his research achievements, he has completed several international training programs in innovative teaching and digital social entrepreneurship, which have strengthened his ability to integrate modern pedagogical methods into both face-to-face and online learning.
    Committed to advancing technology and education, Dr. Natsheh has played a leading role in curriculum development, mentorship, and capacity-building initiatives. He continues to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education, inspiring students and researchers to apply emerging technologies toward sustainable and community-driven progress.

  • Dr. Iyad Saadeddin
    Dr. Iyad Saadeddin, Head of the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, An-Najah National University, Palestine

    Dr. Iyad Saadeddin was born in Nablus-Palestine in 1972.He had his bachelore degree in physics -Minor Electronics, and master study in physics from An-Najah National University . Dr. Saadeddin continue studying for PhD at Bordeaux1 University in France. He had his PhD degree of speciality solid state physics and material science in 2007.

    Dr. Saadeddin published many publications in thin nanofilms in the domain of solarcells,transparant conducting films,Electrochromic films. Recently ,Dr. Saadeddin share in publication on super capacitors fro these publications, one cansee Dr. Saddeddin research interest in thin nano-films material science.

  • Dr. Jihad Abdallah

    Dr. Abdallah was born in Nablus, Palestine on February 3, 1969. He finished high school in 1987. He obtained BSc. degree in Animal Production from An- Najah University (Nablus, Palestine) in 1994. He earned a DESS from CIRAD- EMVT (Montpelier, France) in 1997. He completed his Ph.D. in Animal Breeding with a Minor in Statistics at North Carolina State University (Raleigh, USA) in 2001. After a post-doctoral research experience (2001-2006) at the French National Agricultural Institute (INRA, Toulouse France) working on linkage disequilibrium gene mapping, he joined An-Najah University as a faculty member in 2007. Besides teaching and research, the positions he filled at An- Najah University included head of department and coordinator of two master programs. Dr Abdallah has expertise in animal genetics and statistical analysis and published research in cooperation with other researchers in both the agricultural sand the medical fields.

  • Dr. Abdelhaleem Khader
    Dr. Abdelhaleem Khader, Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering and Assistant Dean of Scientific Research

    Dr. Khader has received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from An-Najah National University in 2004 and his M.S. in Water and Environmental Engineering from An-Najah National University in 2007, and his Ph.D. degree from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, USA in 2012. He has been at An-Najah since the fall of 2013, prior to that he was a postdoctoral fellow at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from 2012 to 2013, and a site engineer at An-Najah National University from 2004 to 2007. His recent research interests center around characterization of urban air quality using low-cost sensors and car emissions. Dr. Khader’s expertise includes air quality monitoring, solid waste management, groundwater quality monitoring network design, and hydrological modeling.   • Prof. Mahdi Abu-Omar
    Prof. Mahdi Abu-Omar, Professor of Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry, University of California, Santa Barbara, USA

    Dr. Mahdi Abu-Omar is a professor specializing in inorganic and organometallic chemistry, with a focus on energy, catalysis, and green chemistry. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Hampden-Sydney College and his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 1996, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the California Institute of Technology with Professor Harry Gray. He has held academic positions at Purdue University and the University of California, Los Angeles, and is the founder of Spiro Renewable Energy, a company providing sustainable and cost-effective alternatives to petrochemicals. His research focuses on designing catalysts and chemical reactions to produce renewable and recyclable materials. His work has contributed to developing methods for converting lignin into phenols and quinones for use in bioplastics. He also studies chemical recycling of plastics and polyurethane into high-value materials. He received the American Chemical Society’s Award for Affordable Green Chemistry in 2022 and was elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 2012.

    Professor Khaled has obtained his BSc in Chemistry (1987) from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Alabama in 1992. He did his first post doctorate year 1992-1993 at Denver University studying fullerenes using Electrochemical and EPR techniques, and his second post doctorate year at North Carolina State University 1993- 1994 developing very fast voltammetry. In 1994 he joined King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals until 2019 and then joined Qatar University in August 2019. In 2007, he was appointed as the first interim director to establish the first Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology at KFUPM. Prof. Khaled main interest is in surface modification and its application in corrosion, electrochemical conversion of CO2, membrane coatings, dust repellent coatings for solar panels, etc. He published more than 100 papers and awarded twenty-seven patents. He published many papers in the field of corrosion protection and membrane coatings utilizing different techniques. Dr. Khaled was the LPI/PI of 15 research projects, and supervised/participate in supervision of 25 MS/PhD students from the Departments of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences. Currently he is a member of a 5M USD Cluster funded project by QNRF to develop electrodes for the electrochemical conversion of CO2 to formic acid.

    Kifah Salih is Assistant professor of Chemistry in Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences. He received his doctoral degree from the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in 2010, working on ruthenium-catalyzed addition of amides to terminal alkynes, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lukas J. Gooßen. He was employed as a research fellow for three years in the group of Prof. Dr. Werner R. Thiel, working on synthesis and application of superparamagnetic nanoparticles, porous materials and on polynuclear transition metal complexes. After that, he served at Sultan Qaboos University as Visiting Faculty. Since the Fall of 2015, he hold a faculty position as a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences until August 2021. His research interests focus on synthesis, catalysis, mechanistic and theoretical investigations.
