Abstract

This research examines swearing by time semantically and syntactically, indicating its purposes, the temporal expressions related to night and day, and their denotations. The study also illustrates the characteristics of the clause of swearing by time in the Quranic verses. Moreover, it discusses the scientific observations of how the Makki Chapters (suras) and the last section (Juzu') of the holy Quran are distinguished wity this kind of swearing and how this is related to the different universal phenomena in the balance between night and day in terms of their times and distributions of the earth.

يتناول البحث القَسم بالزمان: لغةً وتركيباً، مبيناً أغراضه وأسماء الزمان المتعلقة بالليل والنهار، ودلالتها الزمنية موضحاً ما تختص به جملة القسم بالزمان في القرآن الكريم، ومسجلاً الملحوظات العلمية في اختصاص السور المكية والجزء الأخير من القرآن بهذا النوع من القسم، وعلاقة ذلك بالحقائق الكونية المتمثلة في التساوي بين الليل والنهار من حيث: زمانهما، وتوزيعهما على الكرة الأرضية.
