Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of instructional games on immediate and delayed achievement in math's of 3rd grade students in Jerusalem Suburbs schools. The population of this study consists of 3rd grade students (N=1630) in the second semester of the academic year 2004/2005. The sample comprises two sections of 3rd grade (n=68) in Izareia Basic School، The two sections are divided into two groups; one as an experimental group which works with instructional games، and the second as control group that learns traditionally. An achievement exam was used to measure the immediate and delayed achievement with reliability (0.88). The results of the study have shown the following: (1). There were no statistically significant differences at (α=0.05) in the immediate achievement in math's of 3rd grade students due to the method of teaching or gender or the interaction between them. (2) There were statistically significant differences at )α=0.05) in the delayed achievement in math's of the 3rd grade students due to the method of teaching for the benefit of experimental group and in gender for the benefit of females. There were also no significant differences due to the interaction between method of teaching and gender.
