UNRWA Teacher's Attitudes in Irbid Educational Area towards Teaching Career in Light of Some Variables The purpose of the present study was to identify the attitudes of UNRWA teachers within Irbid educational area towards the teaching career and to find out whether such attitudes vary according to the variables of gender, experience, educational qualification and specialty. The sample consisted of (331) UNRWA school teachers within Irbid educational area during the first semester of 2008/2009 school year. To achieve the study objective, Attitudes towards Teaching Career scale developed by Al-Khalili & Makableh (1990) was employed. Results showed that UNRWA school teachers within Irbid educational area had positive attitudes towards the teaching career on the overall instrument. The results also demonstrated statistically significant differences in teacher's attitudes towards the teaching career attributed to gender, in favor of females; and statistically significant differences attributed to experience and educational qualification, in favor of the more experienced and the highly qualified teachers.

الملخص

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على اتجاهات معلمي وكالة الغوث الدولية في منطقة إربد التعليمية نحو مهنة التدريس، ومعرفة فيما إذا كانت هذه الاتجاهات تختلف تبعاً لمتغيرات الجنس والخبرة والمؤهل العلمي والتخصص. تكونت عينة الدراسة من (331) معلماً ومعلمة من معلمي وكالة الغوث الدولية التابعة لمنطقة إربد التعليمية خلال الفصل الدراسي الأول من العام الدراسي 2008/2009م. ولتحقيق هذا الهدف تم تطبيق مقياس الاتجاهات نحو مهنة التدريس الذي طوره الخليلي ومقابلة (1990). فأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن اتجاهات معلمي وكالة الغوث الدولية في منطقة إربد نحو مهنة التدريس كانت إيجابية على الأداة ككل. كما أظهرت نتائج الدراسة وجود فروق دالة إحصائياً في اتجاهات المعلمين نحو مهنة التدريس تعزى لمتغير الجنس ولصالح الإناث، ووجود فروق دالة إحصائيا تبعاً لمتغيري الخبرة والمؤهل العلمي ولصالح أصحاب السنوات الأكثر خبرة والمؤهل الأعلى.
