Effect of a Training Program for Critical Thinking Skills on Developing Reflective Thinking of 10th Female Graders in Jordan

Abstract
This Study aimed at investigating the effect of a training program for critical thinking skills on developing reflective thinking of 10th female graders in Jordan. The sample of the study consisted of (80) students assigned into two groups, an experimental (40) students, and a control group (40) students. Pre and post test of reflective thinking was used, and a training program based on critical thinking skills that the researchers prepared were used. The results showed a significant effect (α = 0.05) of the training program on developing reflective thinking and its subtests in favor of the experimental group. But there wasn't a significant effect (α = 0.05) for the interaction between training program and academic average on developing reflective thinking and its subtests. The researchers recommended doing more studies about the effect of a training program for critical thinking skills on developing other patterns of thinking.

الملخص
هدفت الدراسة إلى الكشف عن أثر برنامج تدريبي على مهارات التفكير الناقد في تنمية التفكير التأملي لدى طالبات الصف العاشر الأساسي في الأردن. تكونت عينة الدراسة من (80) طالبة، والموزعة عشوائياً إلى مجموعتين متكافئتين هما: المجموعة الضابطة والمجموعة التجريبية، وقام الباحثان بإعداد برنامج تدريبي على مهارات التفكير الناقد وتطبيقه على المجموعة التجريبية، كما طُبّق مقياس التفكير التأملي القَبْلي والبَعْدي على المجموعتين. أظهرت النتائج وجود أثر ذي دلالة احصائية (α= 05,0) للبرنامج التدريبي في تنمية التفكير التأملي وأبعاده الفرعية، ولصالح طالبات المجموعة التجريبية، ولم يظهر أثر دال احصائياً (α= 05,0) للتفاعل بين البرنامج التدريبي والمعدل الدراسي في تنمية التفكير التأملي وأبعاده الفرعية، وأوصت الدراسة بإجراء مزيد من الدراسات للتعرف إلى أثر التدريب على مهارات التفكير الناقد في تنمية أنماط تفكير أخرى.
