Abstract

The study mainly aimed at surveying and identifying students with learning disabilities in the second, third and fourth grades in Ramallah- Al-Beirah District in Palestine. A number of 1385 male and female students in co-educated primary schools, with a percentage of 10% of the total population which consisted of 13385, were chosen to be the target stratified sample of the study. Three quantitative measures were employed to address the four questions of the study. The first measure was an achievement test in the Arabic language reading skills that was prepared by the researcher to assess basic reading skills. The second measure was non-verbal test which aimed at testing the students` mental abilities regardless of the individuals` cultural background. The third measure was a checklist of the indicators of the behavioral learning disabilities to be filled by their teachers. The reliability and validity of the instruments were verified. Generally, in the process of the implementation of the three measures, diagnostic criteria for learning disabilities were mainly taken in consideration. In addition, children with learning disabilities were identified after conducting an achievement test in the Arabic language by calculating the means of all the students` marks of the study sample and then calculating the standard deviation which was proved by the results to be (-1). The results showed that there was a positive correlation between the reading and learning skills and the results of the achievement test of target sample students.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة إلى الكشف عن نسبة انتشار صعوبات القراءة لدى طلبة الصفوف الثاني والثالث والرابع في المرحلة الأساسية المختلطة في مدارس محافظة رام الله والبيرة في فلسطين وتكونت عينة الدراسة من (1385) طالباًُ /ة، وهو ما يعادل (10%) من مجتمع الدراسة الذي ضم (13385) طالبا/ة. استخدمت الدراسة ثلاث أدوات لجمع البيانات للإجابة عن أسئلة الدراسة. أولا: استخدام مقياس تحصيلي للكشف عن مهارات اللغة العربية "المهارات القرائية للمرحلة الأسـاسية". ثانيا:استخدام مقياس غير لفـظي لقياس القدرة العقلية بغض النظر عن الخلفية الثقافية. ثالثا: قائمة المؤشرات السلوكية المميزة لذوي صعوبات التعلم على معلمي ومعلمات الصفوف الأساسية للتأكد من صدق اختيار عينة صعوبات القراءة. وتم تحديد طلبة صعوبات التعلم من خلال تطبيق محكات التشخيص لصعوبات التعلم. كما تم تحديد الأطفال الذين لديهم صعوبات تعلم بعد الانتهاء من الاختبار التحصيلي باستخراج المتوسطات الحسابية لعلامات كل أفراد العينة؛ قامت الباحثة بحساب الانحراف المعياري وكان (-1). وتم التحقق من معاملات الصدق والثبات لأدوات الدراسة. أسفر التحليل الإحصائي للبيانات أن مظاهر صعوبات القراءة هي أكثر شيوعا لدى طلبة المرحلة الأساسية في الصفوف الثاني و الثالث والرابع الأساسية .
