Abstract

The current study aimed at investigating the effect of a functionally-based Instructional program on developing tenth grade students' critical reading skills. To achieve the aim of the study, the researchers designed a functionally-based instructional program, and a test consisted of 12 multiple choice items to measure the critical levels of reading. The sample of the study consisted of 56 students from Beit Yafa secondary school for boys in Irbid first directorate of education for the academic years 2010- 2011. They were chosen purposefully: 28 of them represented the experimental group and the other 28 represented the control groupe. The result of the study revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the test of critical reading due to the way of teaching and in favor of the experimental group (Instructional program).

الملخص

هدفت هذه الدراسة الكشف عن أثر برنامج تعليمي قائم على المدخل الوظيفي في تنمية مهارات القراءة الناقدة لدى طلاب الصف التاسع الأساسي. ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة صمم الباحثان برنامجاً تعليمياً قائماً على المدخل الوظيفي، واختباراً تكون من 12 فقرة من الاختيار من متعدد لقياس مهارات القراءة الناقدة. تكونت عينة الدراسة من (56) طالبا من طلاب الصف التاسع الأساسي في مدرسة بيت يافا الثانوية الشاملة للبنين التابعة لمديرية التربية والتعليم لإربد الأولى، وللعام الدراسي 2010-2011، اختيرت بطريقة قصدية ميسرة، وقد قسم الأفراد إلى مجموعتين: (28) طالبًا في المجموعة التجريبية، و(28) طالبًا في المجموعة الضابطة. وأظهرت النتائج وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في اختبار القراءة الناقدة، تعزى لأثر طريقة التدريس، وجاءت الفروق لصالح الطريقة التجريبية (البرنامج التعليمي).
