Educational Considerations Observed by Parents when their Children Enrolled in Private Schools

Abstract

This study aims at identifying the educational considerations observed by parents of students when they enroll their children in private schools in the Gaza Strip. In order to achieve the objectives, the study is conducted on a sample of (264) parents of students in private schools in the Gaza Strip applied by a questionnaire consisting of (52) items distributed on nine areas: the philosophy of the school, its mission, educational performance, the quality of educational programs for the school, the social environment in the school, and modern school building and its equipment, the school's reputation and social status, attention to prepare the human and professional side of the student, and the relationship between school and home and other special reasons. The results indicate that the educational considerations observed by parents when they enroll their children in private schools were of a medium degree in the majority of fields and most of its clauses, reaching the average means of the total score (2,670). Furthermore, the study shows a lack of statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) in the total score of the educational considerations for the variable of the educational level of the parents, the nature of their work and the economic level of the family. The study concluded with a number of recommendations including: the importance of increasing attention to private education by official bodies responsible for education, further studies and research on a special education.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على الاعتبارات التربوية التي يراعيها أولياء أمور الطلاب عند التحاق أبنائهم بالمدارس الخاصة في قطاع غزة، ولتحقيق الأهداف أجريت الدراسة على عينة قوامها (264) من أولياء أمور الطلاب في المدارس الخاصة بقطاع غزة، طبقت عليها استبانة مكونة من (52) فقرة موزعة على تسعة مجالات: فلسفة المدرسة ورسالتها، والأداء التربوي وجودة البرامج التعليمية للمدرسة، والبيئة الاجتماعية في المدرسة، وحداثة المبنى المدرسي وتجهيزاته، وسمعة المدرسة ومكانتها الاجتماعية، والاهتمام بالإعداد الإنساني للطالب، والاهتمام بالإعداد المهني للطالب، والعلاقة بين المدرسة والبيت،أسباب خاصة (شخصية)، وأشارت نتائج الدراسة إلى أن الاعتبارات التربوية التي يراعيها أولياء الأمور عند التحاق أبنائهم بالمدارس الخاصة كانت ذات درجة (متوسطة) في غالبية مجالاتها ومعظم فقراتها، إذ بلغ المتوسط الحسابي للدرجة الكلية (2,670)، كما أظهرت الدراسة عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى (=0.05α) في الدرجة الكلية للاعتبارات التربوية لمتغير المستوى التعليمي للوالدين وطبيعة عملهما والمستوى الاقتصادي للأسرة، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى عدد من التوصيات أهمها: زيادة الاهتمام بالتعليم الخاص من جانب الجهات الرسمية المسئولة عن التعليم، وإجراء المزيد من الدراسات والبحوث حول التعليم الخاص.
