Abstract
This study aimed to investigate The effectiveness of teaching using the interactive whiteboard in learning science and the development of the cognitive thinking skills among female students of 10th grade in basic schools. The study sample consisted of 62 female students, divided into two groups, experimental group consisted of 29 girls studied the unit "Energy Flow in Technological System" using the interactive whiteboard. The control group consisted of 33 girls studied the same unit using the traditional whiteboard. To achieve the objectives of the study, two tests were prepared, achievement test and a test to measure the cognitive thinking skills. The validity of each test was verified through several judges. The reliability of the achievement test was verified by test – retest method and Pearson correlation coefficient was used which gave the value of 0.85 and the reliability of cognitive thinking skills' test was calculated using alpha Cronbach's which gave the value of 0.71. The results show that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the students' achievement in the post-test at the significance level (α = 0.05) in favor of the experimental group. In addition the results showed statistically significant difference between the mean scores of students in the cognitive thinking skills post-test at the significance level (α = 0.05) in favor of the experimental group. In the light of these findings, number of recommendations and suggestions were proposed.

الملخص
هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تقصي فاعلية استخدام السبورة التفاعلية في تدريس العلوم في التحصيل وتنمية مهارات التفكير المعرفي لدى طالبات الصف العاشر الأساسي، وقد تكونت عينة الدراسة من (62) طالبة، مقسمة إلى مجموعتين، (29) طالبة في المجموعة التجريبية، درسن وحدة "انسياب الطاقة في الأجهزة التقانية "باستخدام السبورة التفاعلية" و(33) طالبة في المجموعة الضابطة، درسن الوحدة بالطريقة السائدة. ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة تم إعداد اختبارين، اختبار تحصيلي واختبار لقياس مهارات التفكير المعرفي لدى الطالبات، وقد تم التحقق من صدقهما بعرضهما على المحكمين، كما تم التحقق من ثبات الاختبار التحصيلي بإعادة الاختبار وحساب معامل ارتباط بيرسون بين التطبيقين حيث بلغ (0.85)، كما تم حساب معامل ثبات الاتساق الداخلي باستخدام معادلة ألفا كرونباخ لاختبار مهارات التفكير المعرفي والذي بلغ (0.71). أظهرت نتائج الدراسة وجود فرق ذي دلالة إحصائية بين متوسطي درجات الطالبات في الاختبار التحصيلي البعدي عند مستوى الدلالة (α = 0.05) لصالح المجموعة التجريبية، ووجود فرق ذي دلالة إحصائية بين متوسطي درجات الطالبات في اختبار مهارات التفكير المعرفي البعدي عند مستوى الدلالة (α = 0.05) لصالح المجموعة التجريبية. وخلصت الدراسة إلى عدد من التوصيات في ضوء ما أسفرت عنه من نتائج.
