The Strategic Impact on Learning Concepts among Second Grade Students in Science

Abstract

This study aims to identify the impact of Analogy strategy on learning concepts among 2nd graders in science. The researchers use the quasi-experimental approach for designing pre-post testing of two groups, they prepared lessons plans based on analogy strategy, which include conducting mapping between the new and learned concept to facilitate and learn the new concept in the experimental group. Where as the students in the control group studying the lessons in the traditional way. To achieve the aim of the study the researchers made a test to measure the student's achievement of the mentioned concepts in "The Environment Unit". The study found out that there is a significant difference at (α ≤ 0.05) between the means of pre and post concept learning test favor to the experimental group, and there isn't significant difference at (α ≤ 0.05) between the means of the delayed and post test for the experimental group.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة إلى استقصاء أثر استراتيجية القياس في تعلم المفهوم لدى طالبات الصف الثاني الأساسي في مادة العلوم، وقد استخدم الباحثان تصميم مجموعة تجريبية وأخرى ضابطة باختبار قبلي وبعدي، كما قام الباحثان بإعداد مجموعة من الدروس وفق استراتيجية القياس، إذ تضمنت هذه الاستراتيجية عقد مجموعة من المقارنات بين المفاهيم الجديدة والمفاهيم السابقة لدى الطالبات لتقريب المفاهيم الجديدة وتسهيل تعلمها لديهن، بينما قامت طالبات المجموعة الضابطة بدراسة الوحدة بالطريقة الاعتيادية، ومن أجل قياس مدى تعلم الطالبات للمفاهيم قام الباحثان ببناء اختبار تحصيلي للمفاهيم الواردة في وحدة البيئة من مقرر العلوم للصف الثاني الأساسي، وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى وجود فرق ذي دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة (≤ 0.05α) بين المتوسطين الحسابيين على الاختبار البعدي، وذلك لصالح المجموعة التجريبية، وعدم وجود فرق ذي دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة (≤ 0.05α) بين المتوسطين الحسابيين على الاختبار البعدي والمؤجل للمجموعة التجريبية.
