The dependency of Irbid taxi drivers on the public security radio as a source of traffic information: a field study

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree of exposure of the taxi drivers in Irbid to the public security Radio, and to identify the effects that determine the extent of taxi drivers' reliance on it as a source for obtaining traffic information and study the effect of the different demographic variables on relying on public security Radio in obtaining traffic information. Two hundred of the taxi drivers in the city of Irbid, and the study reached a number of results, the most important of which: that all taxi drivers of the study depend on the Public Security Radio to obtain information on the problems and traffic issues in Jordan. There is a statistically significant positive correlation between the extent to which taxi drivers rely on Public Security Radio to obtain information on traffic problems and issues and their educational level.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على درجة تعرض سائقي التاكسي بإربد لإذاعة الأمن العام، والتعرف على التأثيرات التي تحدد مدى إعتماد سائقي التاكسي عليها مصدراً للحصول على المعلومات المرورية، ودراسة تأثير إختلاف المتغيرات الديموجرافية للإعتماد على إذاعة الأمن العام في الحصول على المعلومات المرورية، وبلغت عينة الدراسة 200 مفردة من سائقي التاكسي بمدينة إربد، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى عدد من النتائج من أهمها: أن جميع سائقي التاكسي محل الدراسة يعتمدون علي إذاعة الأمن العام في الحصول علي معلومات عن المشاكل و القضايا المرورية في الأردن. يوجد ارتباط طردي موجب دال إحصائياً بين مدى اعتماد سائقي التاكسي على إذاعة الأمن العام في الحصول على معلومات عن المشاكل والقضايا المرورية ومستواهم التعليمي.
