Abstract

This study's goal was to find the extent of ethical leadership practiced by the heads of academic departments at Hebron University from their standpoint. The extent of ethical leadership practices was tested according to gender, qualification, specialization, and years of experience. The survey used the mixed approach that integrated qualitative and quantitative methods. Both questionnaires and interviews were applied on (23) department heads at Hebron University. The study showed that the practice of the ethical leadership among the heads of departments at Hebron University was high; significant differences due to qualifications and years of experience; no significant differences due to gender and specialization. The study recommended that it's vital to practice ethical leadership by the heads of academic departments and conducting awareness campaigns to show the principles of ethical leadership and its effect on functionality.

الملخص

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف إلى درجة ممارسة القيادة الأخلاقية لدى رؤساء الأقسام الأكاديمية في جامعة الخليل من وجهة نظرهم. وفحص درجة ممارساتهم للقيادة الأخلاقية وفقاً لمتغيرات (الجنس، والمؤهل العلمي، والتخصص، وسنوات الخبرة)، واستخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي المدمج الذي يكامل بين الكمي والنوعي وتم استخدام الاستبانة والمقابلة كأداتين لجمع البيانات، طبقتا على مجتمع الدراسة المكون من رؤساء الأقسام الأكاديمية في جامعة الخليل وعددهم (23) رئيساً، وتم عمل مسح شامل لهم بالاستبانة وتم إجراء مقابلات لخمسة منهم بطريقة العينةغير الاحتمالية. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن درجة ممارسة القيادة الأخلاقية لدى رؤساء الأقسام الأكاديمية في جامعة الخليل بدرجة مرتفعة من وجهة نظرهم، وأنه توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين أفراد العينة تعزى لمتغير (المؤهل العلمي، وسنوات الخبرة في مجال رئاسة القسم) وعدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين أفراد العينة تعزى لمتغير (الجنس، والتخصص). وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة ممارسة القيادة الأخلاقية من قبل رؤساء الأقسام الأكاديمية وعمل حملات توعوية لبيان مبادئ القيادة الأخلاقية وأثرها على الأداء الوظيفي.
