The relationship between level of sports culture and mental health among the basketball players on wheelchairs

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the level of sports culture among the players of the basketball team on wheelchairs, as well as the level of mental health of the players of the basketball on wheelchairs, in addition to the relationship between the level of sports culture and mental health. To achieve this, the researchers used the descriptive method on a sample consisting of (30) basketball on wheelchairs. To collect the study data, the researchers used the questionnaire, which consisted of (14) paragraphs for the field of sports culture and (12) mental health. The results of the study showed that the sample of the study achieved a high level in the field of sports culture with an average of (3.74) and also (3.99) for the field of mental health at a high level. In addition, the results showed a correlation between the two areas of study but not statistically significant. The researchers recommend the need to organize some activities that would help to integrate with the community.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة الحالية التعرف إلى مستوى الثقافة الرياضية والصحة النفسية لدى لاعبي كرة السلة على الكراسي المتحركة، كذلك إلى علاقة مستوى الثقافة الرياضية بالصحة النفسية لديهم. ولتحقيق ذلك استخدم الباحثون المنهج الوصفي على عينة تكونت من (30) لاعب كرة سلة على الكراسي المتحركة. ولجمع بيانات الدراسة أستخدم الباحثون الاستبانة والتي تكونت بصورتها النهائية من (14) فقرة لمجال الثقافة الرياضية و(12) فقرة لمجال الصحة النفسية. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن عينة الدراسة حققت مستوى مرتفع في مجال الثقافة الرياضية وبمتوسط (3.74)، كذلك بلغ متوسط مجال الصحة النفسية (3.99) وجاء بمستوى مرتفع أيضاً. بالإضافة إلى ذلك أظهرت النتائج وجود ارتباط بين مجالي الثقافة الرياضية والصحة النفسية لدى عينة الدراسة لكنه غير دال احصائياً. ويوصي الباحثون بضرورة تنظيم بعض الأنشطة الرياضية والاجتماعية التي من شانها المساعدة في انخراط هؤلاء اللاعبين مع المجتمع.
