Abstract
Wars usually cause killed caualtis، and captives .this research aims at throwing some light on the captive woman in the Pre-Islamic period. it consists of four headings : 1) fearing for woman of capture. 2) Boasting of taking captives. 3) Disparaging one who could not protect his women. 4) Condition and treatment of the captive women. It is to be noticed that the arab in Pre –Islamic period was desirous of keeping his women away of capture .on the other hand، the captor used to boast of taking captives and subjecting his enemy .some of captures used to treat kindly his captives while others used to bring sever measures to bear upon them. Some of the captors got married with the captive women the researcher adopted the descriptive analytical approach in his work.

الملخص
تنكشف الحروب والوقائع والأيام عن سبايا وأسرى، كما تنكشف عن قتلى وجرحى، وقد جاء هذا البحث لينهد بدراسة السبية في الشعر الجاهلي، وقد قام على أربعة عناوين رئيسة هي: الخوف على النساء من السبي، والفخر بحيازة السبي، وهجو من لا يحمي نساءه، وأخيراً أحوال النساء ومعاملتهن. وقد تبين أن العربي في العصر الجاهلي، كان يحرص على نسائه ألا يقعن في السبي لما يمثل ذلك من هوان وخزي، ولذا فهو يبذل وسعه في حمايتهن والذّب عنهن، في الوقت الذي يهجو من لا يحمي نساءه أو يدفع عنهن. كما أن السابي كان يفخر بقدرته على قهر عدوه وسبي نسائه، وتباين الموقف من معاملة السبايا : فمنهم من كان يكرمهن ويحسن معاملتهن، بل هناك من خلطهن بنسائه واستولدهن، ومنهم من أساء إليهن حد ّبقر البطون إمعاناّ في إذلال عدوه وقهره. وقد اتبع الباحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي في دراسته.
