Abstract

Objective: The study aimed to identify the role of extracurricular education in reducing school dropout among secondary school students, and to examine differences in perspectives based on variables such as school position, gender, years of experience, and academic qualifications. It also sought to identify the qualitative opinions of sample members regarding the role of extracurricular activities in reducing dropout. Methodology: A mixed-methods approach was used, and the study sample consisted of 410 teachers who were given a questionnaire. Seven interviews were also conducted with three female principals and four male and female social education coordinators. Results: The total score for teachers’ responses regarding the school’s level of engagement in extracurricular activities was high. There were statistically significant differences among the mean responses concerning the role of extracurricular education in addressing the phenomenon of school dropout among high school students. From the teachers’ point of view, these differences were attributed to the position variable, specifically to the role of the extracurricular activities coordinator, and to the gender variable in favor of female teachers. However, there were no statistically significant differences in teachers’ responses related to the academic qualification variable. Overall, there was a near consensus among teachers that extracurricular activities help reduce school dropout rates through school exhibitions that showcase such activities, students’ contributions in preparing educational materials, and the diversity of activities offered to engage students and prevent dropout. Conclusions: It is necessary to provide schools with teachers who possess the ability to employ strategies to combat school dropout through extracurricular activities, and to train principals and teachers on methods for employing extracurricular activities in schools to address the phenomenon of dropout.

الهدف: هدفت لتحديد دور التربية اللامنهجية في الحد من ظاهرة التسرب المدرسي لدى طلبة المرحلة الثانوية، والفروق في وجهات النظر وفقًا لمتغيرات الوظيفة بالمدرسة، والنوع الاجتماعي، وعدد سنوات الخبرة، والمؤهل العلمي، والتعرف على آراء أفراد العينة الكيفية حول دور الأنشطة اللامنهجية في الحد من ظاهرة التسرب. المنهجية: استخدمت المنهج المختلط، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من (410) معلماً، تم توزيع عليهم الاستبانة، وكما أجريت 7 مقابلات مع 3 مديرات و4 مركزي ومركزات تربية اجتماعية. النتائج: كانت الدرجة الكلية للاستجابات حول درجة ممارسة المدرسة الأنشطة وفعاليات اللامنهجية من وجهة نظر المعلمين كانت مرتفعة، ووجود فروق دالة إحصائياً بين متوسطات الاستجابات حول دور التربية اللامنهجية في معالجة ظاهرة التسرب المدرسي لدى طلبة المرحلة الثانوية تعزى لمتغير الوظيفة بالمدرسة، لصالح (مركز/ة تربية اجتماعية)، والجنس لصالح فئة الإناث، وعدم وجود فروق دالة إحصائياً بين متوسطات الاستجابات حول دور التربية اللامنهجية في معالجة ظاهرة التسرب المدرسي لدى طلبة المرحلة الثانوية تعزى لمتغير المؤهل العلمي، وهناك شبه اجماع على أن الأنشطة اللامنهجية تعالج ظاهرة التسرب المدرسي من خلال المعارض التي تبرز الفعاليات اللامنهجية، ومساهمة الطلبة في إعداد الوسائل التعليمية. الاستنتاجات: من الضروري تزويد المدارس بمعلمين يمتلكون القدرة على توظيف استراتيجيات مواجهة التسرب المدرسي، من خلال الأنشطة اللامنهجية، وتدريب المديرين والمعلمين على أساليب توظيف الأنشطة اللامنهجية في المدارس لمعالجة التسرب.
