Objective: The study aimed to identify the degree of environmental understanding of the carbon footprint among secondary school students considering some variables: gender, educational governorate, and place of residence in Jordan. Methodology: The descriptive analytical approach was used, and the study tool was a questionnaire developed by the researcher, consisting of (36) paragraphs distributed into three components: cognitive, affective, and behavioral. The overall reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was (0.905), and the study was applied to a research sample of (1322) secondary school students in the governorates of the capital Amman, Zarqa, and Jerash. Results: The results revealed an average level of environmental understanding of the carbon footprint in the general average for all three components, and the absence of statistically significant differences at the level (α = 0.05) in the gender variable, and the presence of statistically significant differences at the level (α = 0.05) in the educational governorate variable attributed to the capital governorate, and the presence of statistically significant differences at the level (α = 0.05) in the place of residence variable attributed to the city. Recommendations: The study recommended utilizing social media and school curricula to enhance environmental awareness among school students in Jordan and incorporating the topic of environmental pollution and the carbon footprint into school curricula at both the primary and secondary levels.

الهدف: هدفت الدراسة معرفة درجة الفهم البيئي لدى طلبة المرحلة الثانوية للبصمة الكربونية في ضوء بعض متغيرات؛ الجنس، والمحافظة التعليمية، ومكان الإقامة في الأردن. المنهج: استخدم المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، وتمثلت أداة الدراسة في استبانة طورها الباحث، وتكونت من (36) فقرة تم توزيعها على ثلاث مكونات، هي: المكون المعرفي، والوجداني، والسلوكي. وبلغ معامل ثبات الاستبانة الكلي (0.905)، وتم تطبيق الدراسة على عينة بحثية بلغ عدد طلبتها (1322) من طلبة المرحلة الثانوية في محافظات: العاصمة عمان، والزرقاء، وجرش. النتائج: كشفت النتائج عن وجود مستوى متوسط من الفهم البيئي للبصمة الكربونية في المتوسط العام لجميع المكونات الثلاثة، وعدم وجود فروق دالة إحصائياً عند مستوى (α=0.05) في متغير الجنس، ووجود فروق دالة إحصائياً عند مستوى (α=0.05) في متغير المحافظة التعليمية يُعزى لصالح محافظة العاصمة، ووجود فروق دالة إحصائيا عند مستوى (α=0.05) في متغير مكان الإقامة يُعزى لصالح المدينة. التوصيات: أوصت الدراسة بتوظيف شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي والمناهج الدراسية لتعزيز الوعي البيئي لدى طلبة المدارس في الأردن، وتضمين موضوع التلوث البيئي والبصمة الكربونية في المناهج الدراسية في المرحلتين: الأساسية والثانوية.
