Abstract
Objective: In response to the need for pedagogical innovation, this descriptive study explores the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing assessment strategies that capture foundational competencies and complex cognitive processes. It examines the connection between technological capabilities and educational equity in light of the Fourth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4). Methodology: Based on a descriptive-analytical approach, a comprehensive review of leading peer-reviewed international studies and policy documents was conducted. Dominant AI-augmented evaluation systems were analyzed against a framework focusing on fairness and accessibility. Key Findings: AI-enhanced adaptive testing improves assessment accuracy and enables targeted interventions. Predictive analytics can forecast learning trajectories, and computerized feedback systems provide personalized instruction. However, three main obstacles remain: algorithmic bias from flawed training data, inadequate institutional capacity to implement AI systems, and a lack of unified regulations to protect data confidentiality. Conclusions: Integrating AI into educational assessments presents transformative opportunities. Yet, realizing this potential requires overcoming critical ethical, technical, and institutional barriers to ensure equitable education for all. Recommendations: The study proposes an inclusive multi-modal assessment model that seamlessly incorporates AI tools into conventional assessments. Key recommendations include devising detailed governance procedures for data privacy and algorithmic transparency, investing in infrastructure and personnel training, and fostering collaborative feedback systems.
