Abstract
This critical study aims at investigating the basic elements of the Paratext which involves other texts which accompany the original prose or poetic texts such as the title, the dedication, the introduction, and the margins, among others. This study focused on two types of introductory speech: the dedication and the introduction as they are important to decode and enlighten the sides of the text and encourage the reader to get through the main text. This study also aims to analyze the elements of introductory speech to explain the artistic and the semantic characteristics in relation to the main text from one side and to the poet's creative attitudes from the other.
