Abstract
The study aimed to be introduced to the general knowledge of Jordanian women about medicinal plants and their uses in different age, educational levels and living places. A sample of (300) women was met to answer a (27) item questionnaire. Results showed that most of women have moderate information about medicinal plants. Also it was revealed that their information resources were moderately useful and their knowledge about the side effects was limited. Percentage of the eldest women who know about medicinal plants was the highest (100%), and they trusted their use more than the others (43.3%). Besides percentage of women who have information about medicinal plants (94%) decreased as their educational level increased. Also women from Ajlun have the highest knowledge about medicinal plants in terms of kinds, uses, and cultivation. Enhancing role of media and education was recommended to improve knowledge about medicinal plants and to maintain people safety.
