This study deals with the aesthetics of place in 'Mahmoud Darwish's La Taatather Amma Fa'alt (Do Not Apologize for What You Have Done". The study focuses on three aspects: the poet's psychological and emotional relationship with the place, the aesthetics of closed place, and the aesthetics of open space. Utilizing the stylistic and statistical method, the study explained that the place constitutes an integral element in the structure of the Darwish poem and that it has been especially employed by Darwish to reflect his vision of the humanity in General and the Palestinian in particular given the agony, trauma and expatriation the Palestinian has been subjected to on his land and abroad. The study found two sorts of relationship between the poet and the places he has been associated with concluding that his relationship with the place was one of belonging, nostalgia and communion while that with open places was one of dissociation, repugnance and fear of the unknown.

تتناول الدراسة جماليات المكان في ديوان "لا تعتذر عمَّا فعلت" للشاعر محمود درويش، مرتكزةً على ثلاثة محاور هي: علاقة الشاعر النفسية والوجدانية بالمكان، وجماليات الأماكن المغلقة، وجماليات الأماكن المفتوحة، وبيَّنت الدراسة، مستندةً على المنهج الأسلوبي والإحصائي، أن المكان يشكل عنصراً أساسياً في بناء القصيدة الدرويشية؛ يُوظِّفه الشاعر توظيفاً خاصاً، يعكس رؤيته الشعرية للواقع الإنساني بوجه عام، والفلسطيني بوجه خاص، الذي اُمْتُحِنَ في بيته وأرضه ووطنه، وعانى، ومازال يعاني، من الحرمان والاغتراب عنها. وكشفت الدراسة أيضا عن نوعين مختلفين من العلاقة بين الشاعر والأماكن التي ارتبط بها؛ فكانت علاقته بالأماكن الضيقة علاقة انتماء وتوحُّد وحنين، في حين اتسمت علاقته بالأماكن المفتوحة، في معظمها، بعدم الانتماء والنفور والخوف من المجهول.
