Abstract
This study aims at examining the effect of using the Socratic Method in teaching geometry on the mathematical achievement and the critical thinking of Educational Sciences Faculty students in UNRWA / Jordan. The sample of the study consisted of (54) students divided into two groups, an experimental group that studied the geometrical shapes subject using the Socratic Method, and a control group that studied the same unit using the traditional method. After completing the teaching of the unit, a mathematical achievement test and a critical thinking test were administered. The ANCOVA and Pearson Correlation Coefficient were used to answer the study questions. The study results revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the mathematical achievement test and the critical thinking test between the two groups in favor of the experimental group. In addition, there was a statistically significant correlation between students' grades in the mathematical achievement test and the critical thinking test.
