The Effectiveness of Using (PDEODE) Strategy Among Higher Basic Stage Students on Their Achievement of Physics Concepts and Scientific Thinking

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using (PDEODE) strategy among Higher Basic Stage Students on their achievement of physics concepts and scientific thinking. The sample of the study consisted of (48) ninth grade male students who distributed randomly into two groups: experimental group and control group. To answer the questions of study, data was gathered and analyzed using (ANOVA) and (MANOVA). The results showed there were no significant statistical differences at (α = 0.05) between the mean scores of achievement test of physics concepts, and scientific thinking test that was attributed to the instructional strategy in favor of the experimental group. In light of these results, the researcher recommended adopting (PDEODE) strategy in the teaching-learning process and in training in-service teachers and reforming the scientific subjects in accordance with this strategy. In addition, the study recommended conducting similar studies and researches on other classes and subjects.

الملخص

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى استقصاء فاعلية استخدام إستراتيجية ((PDEODE لطلبة المرحلة الأساسية العليا في تحصيلهم للمفاهيم الفيزيائية وتفكيرهم العلمي. بلغ عدد أفراد الدراسة (48) طالباً من طلبة الصف التاسع الأساسي، وزعوا بالطريقة العشوائية المنتظمة إلى مجموعتين إحداهما تجريبية والأخرى ضابطة. وللإجابة عن أسئلة الدراسة، استخدم تحليل التباين الأحادي (ANOVA) وتحليل التبان المتعدد (MANOVA) لتحليل نتائج طلبة مجموعتي الدراسة التجريبية والضابطة على اختباري تحصيل المفاهيم الفيزيائية والتفكير العلمي. وقد أظهرت النتائج وجود فرق ذي دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى (α=0.05) بين المتوسطين الحسابيين لعلامات طلبة مجموعتي الدراسة التجريبية والضابطة على الاختبارين يُعزى لطريقة التدريس لصالح المجموعة التجريبية والتي درست باستخدام إستراتيجية ((PDEODE. وفي ضوء هذه النتائج أوصى الباحث بتبني إستراتيجية ((PDEODE في العملية التعليمية التعلمية، وتدريب المعلمين في أثناء الخدمة على استخدامها، كما أوصت بإجراء دراسات مماثلة على صفوف وموضوعات أخرى.
