Abstract

The study aims at identifying level of irrational concepts and their connection to self-deceiving for a sample from Hebron University and Al-Quds Open University (Tulkarem Branch). It also aims at investigating the significant differences in the level of responses of subjects of the study with respect to irrational concepts due to gender, teaching system, place of residence, specialization and academic level. For this purpose, the study was implemented on a sample of 235 male and female students from both universities. Results of the study showed that the total level of irrational concepts and self – conceiving was medium. The three dominant dimensions of irrational concepts were respectively- being annoyed by others problems, past events, anticipating disasters and calamities. However, the least common dimensions were exaggerated excitement, searching for perfect solutions, self and others repentance. On the other hand, the dimensions of self-deceiving were in the following order: emotional, cognitive and finally the behavioral. Findings revealed positive significant correlation relationship between the students’ irrational thoughts and self-deceiving. Results also showed statistical significant differences due to the university system in favor of the traditional system. There were statistically significant differences in the level of self-deceiving among the subjects of the sample attributed to gender and level of education in favor of first year students. There were no significant differences due the rest of variables. In light of these results the researchers suggested some recommendations was the most important comparative studies dealing with irrational thoughts and self-deception among different categories of the Palestinian community in the light of various educational and personal psychological variables.

الملخص

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تحديد مستوى الأفكار اللاعقلانية وخداع الذات لدى عينة من الطلبة الجامعيين من جامعة الخليل وجامعة القدس المفتوحة (فرع طولكرم)، وتقصي طبيعة العلاقة بين هذه الأفكار العقلانية وخداع الذات، والتحقق من دلالة الفروق الإحصائية في مستوى استجابات أفراد الدراسة في الأفكار اللاعقلانية وخداع الذات تبعاً للمتغيرات: الجنس، ونظام التدريس المتبع، والمستوى الدراسي، ومكان السكن، والتخصص الدراسي. لهذا الغرض طبقت أدوات الدراسة على عينة متاحة من الطلبة الجامعيين بلغ عددهم (235) طالباً وطالبة؛ منهم (133) طالباً وطالبة من جامعة الخليل، و(102) من جامعة القدس المفتوحة. وقد أظهرت النتائج أن المستوى الكلي للأفكار اللاعقلانية وخداع الذات لدى الطلبة كان بمستوى متوسط، وأن الأبعاد الثلاثة للأفكار اللاعقلانية السائدة لدى أفراد الدراسة كانت على الترتيب: الانزعاج لمشاكل الآخرين، والأحداث الماضية، وتوقع المصائب والنكبات. بينما كانت الأبعاد الثلاثة الأقل شيوعاً لدى الطلبة هي على الترتيب: التهور الانفعالي، وابتغاء الحلول الكاملة، واللوم القاسي للذات والآخرين. ومن جهة أخرى كانت أبعاد خداع الذات على الترتيب: الانفعالي، ثم المعرفي، وأخيراً السلوكي. كما بينت النتائج وجود علاقة ارتباطية مرتفعة جوهرية موجبة بين الأفكار اللاعقلانية وخداع الذات لدى الطلبة، أما بخصوص دلالة الفروق بين استجابات أفراد الدراسة في مستوى الأفكار اللاعقلانية وخداع الذات تبعاً للمتغيرات المستقلة فقد أظهرت النتائج وجود فروق دالة إحصائياً في مستوى الأفكار اللاعقلانية تبعاً لمتغير نظام الدراسة المتبع في الجامعة لصالح النظام التقليدي، وعدم وجود فروق جوهرية في هذا المستوى تبعاً لباقي المتغيرات. ووجود فروق دالة إحصائياً في مستوى خداع الذات لدى أفراد الدراسة تبعاً لمتغيري الجنس والمستوى الدراسي لصالح الطالبات والطلبة من مستوى السنة الأولى، وعدم وجود فروق جوهرية تبعاً لباقي المتغيرات. وفي ضوء هذه النتائج تم طرح بعض التوصيات كان أهمها إجراء دراسات مقارنة تتناول الأفكار اللاعقلانية وخداع الذات لدى فئات مختلفة من المجتمع الفلسطيني وفي ضوء متغيرات تربوية وشخصية نفسية مختلفة.
