The research seeks to study Susanne Langer’s Philosophy of Symbolic Figures and its relation to Aesthetic Judgment; as she focuses on artworks and its distinguished features as a symbolic mean for knowledge. The two researchers attempted observing Ernst Cassirer’ sorigins of the philosophy of symbolic figures; where the symbol becomes the intellectual energy that forms a specific content of intellectual indicators, which is connected to identical sensual and realistic signs. In the light of that, the researchers studied Langer’s work on the effect of symbolic figures on the philosophy of art, and its position in relation to the function of art and its connection to the symbol; in addition to the artistic image and the human affection within the contexts of aesthetic judgment.

يهدف البحث إلى التعرف على فلسفة الأشكال الرمزية وعلاقتها بالحكم الجمالي عند سوزان لانجر التي تناولت الأعمال الفنية وسماتها الخاصة بوصفها وسيلة رمزية للمعرفة، وقد ذهب الباحثان إلى محاولة رصد أصول فلسفة الأشكال الرمزية عند أرنست كاسيرر الذي رأى أن الرمز يعد بمثابة الطاقة الفكرية التي بواسطتها يصبح مضمون معين من الدلالات الفكرية، مرتبطا بعلامات حسية وواقعية متطابقة، وفي ضوء ذلك فقد تم تناول مدى تأثير فلسفة الأشكال الرمزية على فلسفة الفن عند لانجر، وموقفها من وظيفة الفن وعلاقته بالرمز، ومن الصورة الفنية وعلاقتها بالوجدان البشري ضمن سياقات الحكم الجمالي.
