Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of using the six thinking hats strategy on Understanding Scientific Concepts and Acquisition of scientific thinking skills Among the Basic Stage Students. The study used a purposeful sample that consisted of (59) eighth grade famale. The sample was divided into two groups: experimental group which studied using the six thinking hats strategy, and a controlled group which studied using the traditional method. The study revealed that Students performed better with the six hats strategy over that of the traditional method on understanding of scientific concepts and in acquiring scientific thinking skills among eighth grade students. It also was found that The internal locus of control students performed better than the external locus of control students in the understanding of scientific concepts. And there was no interaction between teaching strategy and locus of control on understanding of scientific concepts and in acquiring scientific thinking skills.
