Abstract

This study aimed at applying Ashwort (1989) model which reflects the relation between urban development and hotel location structure in a few cities, and the impact of transportation, the central market of the city, the cultural as well as natural features in a given city on Amman’s hotel locations and their development in the last 100 years using the evolutionary approach and by application of Geographical Information System (GIS). The results are partially consistent with the mentioned model. In this regard, the image of the new neighborhoods, the location of public and private establishments - such as universities, hospitals, and residential land catogeries have to be added to the aforementioned model in the case of Amman. The study recommends the follow up of the recent development of the old city , and to study hotel’ locations in other Arabic cities to draw a new or compelmentry “hotel location model” for Arabic Cities.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة الى تطبيق نموذج Ashwort (1989) على مواقع فنادق مدينة عمان وتطورها خلال المئة سنة الماضية ويعكس النموذج ثنائية تطور المدينة وتوزيع فنادقها، ودور المواصلات والمركز التجاري والبيئة الطبيعية والثقافية في تحديد مواقع الفنادق فيها, و استخدم المنهج التطوري وتطبيقات نظام المعلومات الجغرافي لتوضيح توزيع الفنادق في مدينة عمان. كان من اهم نتائج الدراسة وجود تطابق جزئي بين النموذج وبين توزيع الفنادق في مدينة عمان تمثل في مواقع الفنادق القديمة في مركز المدينة ودور العوامل الطبيعية، وبخاصة في غرب عمان . وتم التوصل الى عوامل أخرى مؤثرة في مواقع فنادق مدينة عمان لم يتضمنها النموذج المذكور وهي: الصورة الذهنية للأحياء الجديدة ومواقع المنشأت العامة والخاصة كالمستشفيات والجامعات ودرجة تنظيم الاراضي السكنية، الامر الذي يعكس خصوصية ثقافية وتاريخية أثرت على قرار المستثمرين في إختيار مواقع فنادقهم. توصي الدراسة بتتبع التطورات التي يشهدها مركز مدينة عمان القديم "البلد" ضمن خطط إعادة تأهيل "وسط البلد" ،كما توصي بدراسة مواقع فنادق مدن عربية أخرى، للوصول الى نموذج مكمل او مستقل للنموذج المذكور.
