Abstract
Objective: The study aimed to explore the perceptions of students from Hebron University and Palestine Polytechnic University regarding intergenerational solidarity between children and parents within Palestinian families. Methodology: The study employed a quantitative approach by selecting a non-probability purposive sample consisting of (569) university students, from Hebron University and Palestine Polytechnic University. Conclusions and Results: The level of youth perception of intergenerational solidarity between parents and children in Palestinian families was generally high across all sub-dimensions. The emotional solidarity was higher among females, whereas intergenerational ambivalence was higher among males. There was a positive relationship between functional solidarity and the number of years of mothers' education, and a negative relationship between monthly household income and intergenerational ambivalence. However, the study indicated that there was no statistically significant relationship between intergenerational solidarity and the ages of the children or parents. Recommendations: There is a need to develop social policies and programs related to intergenerational communication and growth.
