Objectives: The current study aimed to explore 21st-century skills included in students’ textbooks. Methodology: A descriptive research approach based on content analysis was employed to achieve the study's objectives. The study population comprised all sciences textbooks for the upper basic stage, while the sample included mathematics, physics, and chemistry textbooks for the tenth grade for both the first and second semesters, which were scheduled to be taught in all schools in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan starting from the 2021 academic year. A list of criteria representing 21st-century skills, according to the classification of the "Partnership for 21st Century Skills" (P21), was used to collect data. This list included seven major skills (7Cs): Critical thinking and problem-solving, Creative thinking, Communication and technology information, Career skills and self-learning, Cross-cultural understanding, and Computing and information technology, represented by 33 indicators. Results: The analysis results, based on the frequency of indicators and percentages, showed that the overall availability of the skills ranged from “low” to “very low” across all seven skills, however, the "Cross-Cultural Understanding" indicators were absent. In the mathematics textbook, 42 indicators, in the physics textbook 52 indicators, and in the chemistry textbook 58 indicators were included. As for future jobs included, all the three textbooks lacked of any future jobs related to the content of the three subjects. Recommendations: Given these results, the researcher recommended developing mathematics, physics, and chemistry textbooks in line with global developments by including 21st-century skills and linking theoretical content with the workplace. Additionally, a comparison between Jordanian school textbooks and their counterparts in developed countries was suggested to benefit from their experiences in this field .

الهدف: هدفت الدراسة الحالية الى الكشف عن مهارات القرن الواحد والعشرون ووظائف المستقبل المتضمنة في الكتب المدرسية. المنهجية: ومن اجل تحقيق أهداف الدراسة؛ تم توظيف منهج البحث الوصفي القائم على تحليل المحتوى، وتمثل مجتمع الدراسة في جميع الكتب العلمية للمرحلة الأساسية العليا، أما عينة الدراسة فقد تمثلت في كتب الرياضيات والفيزياء والكيمياء للصف العاشر للفصلين الأول والثاني والمقرر تدريسها في جميع مدارس المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية بدءً من العام الدراسي 2021، ولجمع البيانات، تم استخدام قائمة معايير تمثل مهارات القرن الواحد والعشرون وفقاً لتصنيف مبادرة "الشراكة من أجل مهارات القرن الواحد والعشرون" (P21)والتي تكونت من سبع مهارات (7Cs) أساسية: التفكير الناقد وحل المشكلات، التفكير الإبداعي، تقنية المعلومات والاتصال، مهارة المهنة والتعلم الذاتي، فهم الثقافات، والحوسبة وتقنية المعلومات تتمثل في (33) مؤشراً. نتائج الدراسة: أظهرت نتائج التحليل من خلال حساب تكرار المؤشرات والنسب المئوية، أن درجة توافر المهارات بشكل عام كانت منخفضة إلى منخفضة جداً على ست مهارات، وغير متوفرة إطلاقاُ في مهارة "فهم الثقافات" Cross-Cultural understanding؛ كذلك بينت النتائج ان كتاب الرياضيات تضمن (42) مؤشراً، وتضمن كتاب الفيزياء (52) مؤشراً، أما كتاب الكيمياء فقد تضمن (58) مؤشراً. وفيما يتعلق بوظائف المستقبل، فقد خلت الكتب الثلاثة من أي إشارة لهذه الوظائف أو أية وظائف وأعمال مرتبطة بمحتوى المواد الثلاثة. التوصيات: وفي ضوء النتائج أوصى الباحث بتطوير كتب الرياضيات والفيزياء والكيمياء في ظل التطورات العالمية من خلال تضمينها مهارات القرن الواحد وربط المحتوى النظري بسوق، وكذلك عمل مقارنة بين الكتب المدرسية في الأردن ونظيراتها في الدول المتقدمة للاستفادة من خبراتها في هذا المجال.
