Reviewers' Guidelines
Invitation to Review
The Palestinian
Medical and Pharmaceutical Journal (PMPJ) editors select potential reviewers
based on their expertise in the relevant research areas of the submission under
consideration. Invitations to review are sent via email through the Journal’s
submission system and Editorial Manager. Reviewers can accept or decline the
invitation using the links provided in the email. Reviewers should only accept
the invitation if they have the necessary expertise, sufficient time, and
objectivity to provide an unbiased evaluation of the research.
Declaring Competing Interests
Reviewers should not accept an invitation if they have a conflicting interest that could interfere with providing an objective assessment or be perceived as a conflict in the evaluation process. If reviewers are unsure whether their relationship qualifies as a competing interest, they should seek guidance from the journal office. If the reviewer proceeds with the review, they must declare any competing interest when submitting their evaluation.Confidentiality
Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and all related communications. Reviewers should not discuss the submission with others unless agreed upon with the editor beforehand. Reviewers must not use any materials or information from the peer review process for their own research or purposes.Reviewing Manuscripts Previously Reviewed
If a reviewer has previously reviewed a
manuscript for another journal, they should treat the manuscript as a new
submission unless otherwise advised by the editor. The manuscript may have been
updated since the previous review, and The Palestinian Medical and
Pharmaceutical Journal (PMPJ) publishing standards may differ from those of
other journals. Reviewers should inform the editor if they have reviewed an
earlier version of the manuscript for another journal.
Time to Review
Reviewers are encouraged to complete their review within the specified time frame. If additional time is needed, reviewers should notify the editor as soon as possible to request an extension.Writing the Review
The
purpose of the review is to provide the editors with a professional assessment
of the manuscript’s reliability and quality. The review should also provide
authors with constructive feedback to help them improve their work for
potential publication in The Palestinian Medical and Pharmaceutical Journal
(PMPJ). Consider the following:
- What are
the key assertions of the manuscript, and how significant are they to the
field?
- Are the
assertions correctly placed in the context of the existing literature?
- Have the
authors treated the literature fairly and accurately?
- Do the
data and analyses support the authors' claims?
- Is
additional evidence required, and if so, what is needed?
- Does the
study show sufficient potential to warrant encouragement for the authors
to revise and resubmit the manuscript?
- Are the
methodological details clear enough to allow replication of the
experiments?
- Is any
software produced by the authors freely accessible?
- Is the
manuscript written clearly and structured in a way that makes it
understandable to both specialists and non-specialists?
While the editors respect your right to
privacy, any criticism that could help improve the manuscript should be
directed at the authors.
