Background: Recent years have witnessed remarkable advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), bringing a transformative shift to the education sector, particularly in schools, where AI applications have started to reshape instructional practices and administrative processes. Aim: To review the recent global research trends in the use of AI in school education during the period 2020–2024. Method: A systematic review design was applied by analyzing 632 studies retrieved from the Almandhumah and Scopus databases. The studies were classified into three domains: AI applications in education, the practical use of AI in enhancing efficiency of instructional and administrative processes, and the key benefits and challenges of implementation. Results: Findings revealed a growing global interest in employing AI in school education, with most studies emphasizing instructional applications, particularly personalized content delivery and immediate feedback, which improved students’ academic performance and engagement. Fewer studies focused on administrative effectiveness, where AI was applied to automate routine tasks such as attendance monitoring, scheduling, and data analysis, thereby supporting decision-making and saving time. However, challenges were frequently reported, including high application costs, weak digital infrastructure, and limited availability of trained personnel. Conclusion: The study concludes that AI holds significant potential to enhance both instructional efficiency and administrative effectiveness in schools. To achieve sustainable integration, flexible strategies should be developed to strengthen digital infrastructure, improve training for educational staff, and design innovative policies that ensure responsible AI use. Future research is recommended to explore advanced mechanisms that balance technological innovation with the human dimension in education and administration.

خلفية البحث: شهدت السنوات الأخيرة تقدماً ملحوظاً في مجال الذكاء الاصطناعي، مما أدى إلى تحول جذري في قطاع التعليم، وخاصة في المدارس، حيث بدأت تطبيقاته في إعادة تشكيل الممارسات التعليمية والعمليات الإدارية. الهدف: مراجعة الاتجاهات البحثية العالمية الحديثة حول استخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي في التعليم المدرسي خلال الفترة 2020–2024. المنهجية: تم إجراء مراجعة منهجية من خلال تحليل 632 دراسة مستخلصة من قاعدتي بيانات "المنظومة وسكوبس(Scopus)"، حيث ركزت المراجعة على ثلاثة محاور رئيسة: تطبيقات الذكاء الاصطناعي في التعليم، استخداماته العملية في تعزيز كفاءة العملية التعليمية والفعالية الإدارية، وأبرز الفوائد والتحديات المرتبطة بتوظيف هذه التطبيقات. النتائج: أظهرت نتائج المراجعة أن هناك اهتمامًا متزايدًا بتوظيف الذكاء الاصطناعي في التعليم المدرسي، حيث ركزت معظم الدراسات على التطبيقات التي تُسهم في تعزيز كفاءة العملية التعليمية مثل تقديم محتوى مخصص وتوفير تغذية راجعة فورية، مما انعكس إيجاباً على الأداء الأكاديمي وزيادة تفاعل الطلاب. في المقابل، تناولت دراسات أقل دور الذكاء الاصطناعي في تعزيز الفعالية الإدارية عبر أتمتة المهام الروتينية مثل مراقبة الحضور والجدولة وتحليل البيانات لدعم اتخاذ القرار. كما كشفت الدراسات عن مجموعة من التحديات أبرزها ارتفاع التكاليف وضعف البنية التحتية الرقمية وقلة الكوادر المدربة. الاستنتاجات: تؤكد الدراسة أهمية تطوير استراتيجيات مرنة وشاملة تحقق التكامل بين كفاءة العملية التعليمية والفعالية الإدارية، مع التركيز على استدامة وجودة التعليم المدرسي. ويتطلب ذلك تحسين البنية التحتية الرقمية، وتعزيز برامج تدريب الكوادر التعليمية والإدارية، وتبني سياسات تعليمية مبتكرة تضمن الاستخدام الآمن والمسؤول لتقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي. كما توصي الدراسة ببحوث مستقبلية تستكشف آليات متطورة تُسهم في تحقيق تجربة تعليمية وإدارية متكاملة ومستدامة تراعي التوازن بين الابتكار التكنولوجي والبعد الإنساني في التعليم والإدارة.
