Abstract

Background: The educational process has recently undergone a significant transformation due to the integration of generative artificial intelligence tools, particularly intelligent conversational systems such as ChatGPT, which provide adaptive learning environments that address students’ knowledge gaps and support teachers with innovative solutions. However, there remains a need for empirical research that examines the effectiveness of these tools in face-to-face classrooms and their impact on academic achievement, motivation, and classroom interaction. Objective: This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of an adaptive mathematics unit titled "Multiplication and Division (2)", designed with the support of ChatGPT, in enhancing academic achievement and classroom interaction among fourth-grade students in Latakia, Syria. Methodology: The study employed a quasi-experimental design with two groups: a control group (28 students) taught the unit using traditional methods, and an experimental group (25 students) taught the adaptive unit supported by ChatGPT. Academic achievement was measured using pre- and post-tests, and classroom interaction was observed using an observation checklist. Results: The experimental group showed statistically significant improvements in academic achievement across knowledge, understanding, applied skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Additionally, classroom interaction increased in all dimensions: student-teacher interaction, student initiative, and peer interaction, compared to the control group. Conclusions: The adaptive unit supported by ChatGPT proved effective in enhancing students’ academic achievement and fostering classroom interaction in the topic of long division.

خلفية البحث: شهدت العملية التعليمية مؤخراً تحولاً بفضل إدماج أدوات الذكاء الاصطناعي التوليدية، لا سيّما نظم المحادثة الذكية مثل ChatGPT، التي توفر بيئات تعلم تكيفية تعالج الفجوات المعرفية لدى الطلبة وتدعم المعلمين بحلول مبتكرة. ومع ذلك، ما تزال الحاجة قائمة لأبحاث تجريبية تقيس فعالية هذه الأدوات داخل الصفوف الوجاهية وتأثيرها على التحصيل والدافعية والتفاعل الصفي .الهدف: يهدف البحث إلى دراسة فاعلية وحدة رياضيات تكيفية بعنوان "الضرب والقسمة (2)" صُمّمت بدعم ChatGPT، في تحسين التحصيل الدراسي والتفاعل الصفي لطلبة الصف الرابع الأساسي في مدينة اللاذقية – سورية .المنهجية: استخدم البحث تصميماً شبه تجريبياً بمجموعتين: ضابطة (28 طالباً) درست الوحدة بالطريقة التقليدية، وتجريبية (25 طالباً) درست الوحدة التكيفية المدعومة بـ ChatGPT. تم قياس التحصيل عبر اختبار قبلي وبعدي، والتفاعل الصفي بواسطة بطاقة ملاحظة. النتائج: أظهرت المجموعة التجريبية تحسناً دالاً إحصائياً في التحصيل الدراسي في المعرفة والفهم والمهارات التطبيقية والتفكير النقدي، وارتفاعاً في التفاعل الصفي مع المعلم والزملاء والمبادرة الذاتية مقارنة بالمجموعة الضابطة. الاستنتاجات: الوحدة التكيفية بدعم ChatGPT أثبتت فاعليتها في تعزيز التحصيل الدراسي وتنمية التفاعل الصفي في موضوع القسمة المطوّلة.
