Objective: This study aims to assess the degree to which intermediate school science teachers possess scientific and engineering practices in light of the NGSS standards, Methodology: The study adopted the descriptive survey method to address the research questions. The sample consisted of 110 male and female teachers of science subjects (biology, physics, and chemistry) who taught the first and second grades of government intermediate day schools within the General Directorate of Education, Baghdad/Al-Rusafa First, during the academic year 2020/2021. The researchers developed a research instrument in the form of a scale comprising 52 items, distributed across the eight core scientific and engineering practices identified by the NGSS, Key Findings: The findings revealed that the participating science teachers demonstrated possession of scientific and engineering practices in the classroom. Moreover, no statistically significant differences were found in the extent of teachers’ possession of these practices with respect to gender, years of experience, or field of specialization, Conclusions: The findings revealed that implementing these practices in Iraq is hindered by limited instructional resources, insufficient professional development programs, and inadequate support from school administrations and educational supervisors, Recommendations: the study recommends that the Directorates of Education, particularly the Departments of Preparation and Training, provide advanced professional development workshops to familiarize science teachers with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and support their effective implementation in science classrooms.

الهدف:. يهدف البحث لقياس درجة امتلاك مدرسي العلوم في المرحلة المتوسطة للممارسات العلمية والهندسية في ضوء معايير NGSS ، المنهج : اعتمدت هذه الدراسة على المنهج الوصفي المسحي للاجابة على اسئلة البحث، شملت عينة البحث مدرسي مادة العلوم للصف (الاول والثاني) للمرحلة المتوسطة الحكومية النهارية في المديرية العامة لتربية محافظة بغداد / الرصافة الاولى للعام الدراسي (2020/2021م) الذين تخصصهم مادة العلوم بفروعها (علم الاحياء، علم الفيزياء، علم الكيمياء) والبالغ عددهم (110) مدرسا ومدرسة، وقام الباحثان بإعداد اداة البحث متمثلة بـ فقرات المقياس المتضمن (52) فقرة توزعت على الممارسات العلمية والهندسية الثمان الرئيسة لمعاييرNGSS, النتائج : اظهرت النتائج ان عينة البحث (مدرسي العلوم) يمتلكون الممارسات العلمية والهندسية داخل الصف الدراسي ولاتوجد فروق في امتلاك مدرسي العلوم للممارسات العلمية والهندسية تعزى الى متغيرات الجنس وسنوات الخبرة والتخصص ، الاستنتاجات : اظهرت نتائج البحث إلى أن تطبيق هذه الممارسات في العراق يواجه عدة تحديات، منها محدودية توفر المواد التعليمية والموارد الداعمة، ونقص البرامج التدريبية التي تهدف إلى تعزيز مهارات مدرسي العلوم، بالإضافة إلى ضعف الدعم المقدم من إدارات المدارس والمشرفين التربويين لتشجيع تطبيقها ، التوصيات: يوصي البحث بأقامة ورش ودورات تدريبية متطورة من قبل مديريات التربية / قسم الاعداد والتدريب لتعريف مدرسي العلوم بأخر التطورات العالمية فيما يخص معايير NGSS وكيفية تطبيقها داخل الصف الدراسي وتنميتها لطلبتهم.
